Pride returns to Portsmouth City Centre today

Pride returns to Portsmouth City centre today (June 20) with a parade starting from Guildhall Square at noon.

Portsmouth’s first ever Pride Equality Parade will assemble from 11am onwards in Guildhall Square, moving off after a two minutes silence, following the 12 noon chimes, to give everyone the opportunity to remember people across the world, who have suffered from LGBT bigotry and hate crimes.

The Parade will leave Guildhall Square at noon, progress along Commercial Road, round the Jubilee Fountain and back to Guildhall Square.

Take along your flags to wave and blow your whistles to help create the most colourful and vibrant parade ever to hit the streets of Pompey.

Afterwards, tickets holders can make their way to Southsea Common for the Pride Variety Show which will include speeches from Human Rights Campaigner Peter Tatchell and the Lord Mayor and performances from artists including: GlitterBugz, Jessica Leslie, Southampton Gay Mens Chorus, Linda Bacardi, Gloria Miller, Lydia Lucy, A Carpenters Tribute, with Karen Barnett and Mick Rose, Loza Page, Feryl, Cosmic, BlokeZone, CinderZ, Blues Brothers by the Disco Divas, Donna Jones MBE, Ashleigh K and Flame-Boyant on the main stage sponsored by Wave 105.

On a seperate acoustic stage there will be performances by Emiliyah and the MightyZ All Stars, Tom Mcaffety, Darryl Rushby, Roy Peplow, Hanna Wicks and Jenny B-side.
