Pride House Podcast launches ahead of Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games

Pride House Birmingham will be hosting a safe space for LGBTQ+ athletes, spectators, and allies during the Commonwealth Games in the summer of this year. Ahead of the games, they have launched their podcast seriesPride House Podcast – which is created by the Pride House team and will showcase conversations related to sport and LGBTQ+ rights in the Commonwealth.

The podcast will welcome guests including athletes, coaches, officials, event organisers and those working to advance human rights in different parts of the Commonwealth for chats and storytelling.

In a release, Pride House said: “The aim of the Pride House Podcast is to celebrate the achievements and visibility of those providing representation for LGBTQ+ communities in Commonwealth sport; and to celebrate the progress made by human rights defenders based in the 72 nations (54 countries) whose athletes are expected to compete at Birmingham 2022.

“Through the sharing of stories and experiences, Pride House Birmingham hopes to rally wider support and allyship for the causes most important to activists and organisations advocating for LGBTQ+ rights, and broaden understanding of the pivotal role that sport plays in breaking down stereotypes about LGBTQ+ people, all around the world.”

Episode one of the Pride House Podcast is available on Apple Podcasts and Spotify now, and Pride House will be located in the space above The Loft this summer.
