Police seek volunteers for Stop and Search scrutiny panel

Besi Besemar January 15, 2018

Sussex Police is establishing a Stop and Search public scrutiny panel, to enable independent assessment in their use of this police power.

Sussex residents are being invited to participate in this new initiative; you do not need any prior knowledge or experience of police powers, just a desire to help improve the quality of the service the Police provide.

The first meeting is scheduled for 6pm-7.30pm, on Tuesday, January 23, at Sussex Police HQ, Malling House, Church Lane, Lewes, BN7 2DZ.

If you are driving, there is parking on site and you will be directed where to go on arrival at the main security gate.

The purpose of the first meeting will be to outline the objective of the panel, introduce an assessment framework for scrutiny and then conduct assessments on a sample of actual Stop and Search submissions.

If you would like to get involved, please confirm your attendance by email to:  Dermot.Torney@sussex.pnn.police.uk
