QueerBio.Com have announced their annual list of Outstanding LGBTQ Youths for the year. The biographies of these individuals were added to the biographical website during the year when their actions and achievements came to the attention of the editors.
Some have faced great risk to their personal lives by being publicly identified as LGBTQ. Others represent a new generation that is comfortable with their personal sexual identity. All have used their skills, profile and success to serve as role models to help others live their lives openly. They come from the worlds of activism, sports, politics, writers, poets, fashion and entertainment.
Each has made a material impact in their field of interest, and several have become tops in their field. This includes Canadian and World Champion Pole Vaulter Shawn Barber, American singer Lil Nas X, Sweden’s World Champion Jiu Jitsu competitor William Seth-Wenzel, and Eurovision winner Duncan Laurence from The Netherlands.
There is a marked increase in the number of transgender individuals on the list this year, with particular representation in sports, fashion and entertainment.
Four outstanding younger LGBTQ+ people from the UK made the list this year
- Talulah-Eve Brown – transgender model
- Uzoechi Emenike – singer and songwriter known as MNEK
- Nikki Hiltz – track & field competitor
- Bethany Mead – professional football player
The Outstanding LGBTQ Youths of 2019 hail from Argentina, Australia, Belgium, Canada, Finland, Germany, Great Britain, India, Ireland, Jamaica, Japan, Malaysia, Puerto Rico, Sweden, Spain, The Netherlands, the United States, and Venezuela.
