Lockdown lifeline: Covid-19 support directory launched

April 24, 2020

A new online Covid-19 help directory has launched to provide trusted local information.

Covidbrightonhove.org.uk will be updated daily with welfare advice, support offers, public health advice and the latest information around Covid-19. The site has a special focus on supporting the most vulnerable and excluded members of the Brighton & Hove communities.

People needing help with food shopping, collecting prescriptions or finding advice about money and benefits can use the site for themselves as well as a friend, family member or neighbour they are concerned about.

‘It’s vital that anyone who needs help has a place to go to get up-to-date information. Sometimes it`s hard to keep track of which services are open and how to get support,’ said the Trust for Developing Communities (TDC) chief executive Athol Halle ‘The website will provide verified information for everyone in the city, linking trusted sources together in a single access point.’

TDC and Community Works are the the two charities that set up the site in collaboration with Brighton & Hove Council, health organisations, local charities and community groups.

‘The response to the coronavirus situation across the city has been incredible,’ said Community Works CEO Jessica Sumner.

‘While it’s been an incredibly challenging time for lots of people, the crisis has also shown the best of of the city and how we can work together to help each other.

‘We hope that covidbrightonhove.org.uk will be easy to access website that brings everything together – from mutual aid groups to mental health.’
