Last week Simon Kirby, MP for Brighton Kemptown and Peacehaven, met with Becky Shaw, CEO of East Sussex Country Council.
DURING the meeting he pressed, among other issues, for improvements to the condition of roads and pavements, and highlighted the shortage of post-16 education in Peacehaven and Telscombe Cliffs.
Mr Kirby claims the condition of roads and pavements are of particular concern to many of the people living in Peacehaven and Telscombe Cliffs, and is an issue that he has regularly pressed the Council over.
During the meeting Simon asked what the Council would be doing to resolve the amount of traffic on the South Coast Road, and pushed for a Council Tax freeze for the next 12 months.
Finally, whilst raising post-16 education provision, Mr Kirby also pushed for improvements to the local primary schools.
Mr Kirby said: “I was delighted to be able to meet with Becky Shaw, and to have the opportunity to make her aware of some of the main concerns that the people of Peacehaven and Telscombe Cliffs have.
“I am proud to represent Peacehaven and Telscombe Cliffs, although I am aware that many constituents would like to see improvements in areas such as roads, traffic and education, which is why I took these directly to the Chief Executive.
“I look forward to seeing progress made on each of these points over the next few months, and I will work hard to make sure that these remain firmly on the Council’s agenda.”
