Besi Besemar March 26, 2014

Student takeoverMs Dynamite headlines a weekend long ‘Takeover’ event showcasing the best of Brighton’s LGBTQ scene.

The same weekend that Brighton hosts the first same sex marriage in England and Wales at the Royal Pavilion, the city’s LGBTQ scene comes together for ‘Takeover’ an event attracting students from all over the UK.

Friday 28 – Sunday 30 of March sees Brighton’s largest LGBTQ venues combining with some of the smallest to offer a weekend of unparalleled value and variety for LGBTQ students and their friends, local or visitor alike.

Tickets for this new, unique weekend event are still available, and once purchased provide drink and food discounts at ten of Brighton’s finest establishments, as well as free entry to club nights at the scene’s three biggest venues – Charles Street, Legends and Revenge where UK superstar Ms Dynamite will be headlining on Friday night.

Saturday sees a huge scene-wide ‘Blowout’ bar crawl taking in Brighton’s finest LGBTQ venues who will be offering wristband holders cheap drinks.

Aside from three huge official club nights, the rest of the weekend is packed full of events to cater for every taste, from cabaret and drag to live music and karaoke.

Sunday will be a more chilled affair, with live and local LGBTQ music acts appearing at Bar Revenge, Lola Lasagne and Rock n Roll bingo will be at Charles Street, world famous drag queen Dave Lynn will be at Legends where later in the evening, the weekend comes to a close with a party in the Basement Club.

Other Brighton attractions will also be opening their doors to Takeover’s students, as the organisers have negotiated exclusive offers on Brighton Pier, at the Sealife Centre, and in over a dozen stores at Churchill Square.

The event is also supporting local charities with 10% of each ticket going to good causes. This is being split between the Terrence Higgins Trust and the city’s Rainbow Fund who distribute funds to other local LGBTQ charities and frontline service providers. Donations will also be made to Brighton and Sussex University’s LGBTQ student societies.
