Healthwatch seeks new Chair

Graham Robson January 11, 2022

Healthwatch Brighton & Hove is looking to appoint a new Chair to help improve the voice of local people in health and social care services.

The independent champion, which works to ensure people across Brighton & Hove have a say in how local health and social care services develop, is searching for a successor to Fran McCabe, who currently leads its board and will be stepping down at the end of March after eight years in the role.

The role is strategic and involves representing the organisation and presenting local people’s views at a senior level.

The new Chair would lead an experienced operational team, which is supported by a dedicated group of local volunteers devoted to achieving change in services to make them the best they could be for patients and the public.

Fran McCabe, outgoing chair, said: “Our Healthwatch has a unique and well-respected position in the local health and care system. We have statutory rights and are expected to shout out if things are not as they should be for patients and service users. But we also see ourselves as a real force for change by working with others such as local councils, hospitals, GPs and voluntary organisations.”

Healthwatch Brighton & Hove welcomes applications from all parts of our diverse communities. If you want to talk to someone about this role, email: chair@healthwatchbrightonandhove.co.uk.

For an application pack and to apply, send your CV together with a cover letter stating why you want the role and what you feel can bring to Healthwatch Brighton & Hove: apply@hwbh.co.uk.
