Residents in Brighton & Hove are being asked their views on highways and transport services, from potholes to public transport, in a national survey that will compare results from across the country.
Brighton & Hove is one of 70 councils taking part in the survey which is run by the National Highways and Transport (NHT) Network and the South West Highway Service Improvement Group.
From this week a customer satisfaction questionnaire will be sent to a minimum random sample of 6,000 city residents.
Councillor Ian Davey, lead member for transport in Brighton & Hove, said:
“Residents will be asked what they think about all aspects of highways and transport in Brighton & Hove and their views really count as we will be able to compare how we are doing in relation to other councils. This is not about producing a league table to champion one geographical area over another, it is about understanding customer views better and working together to deliver the best possible outcomes for local residents.
“We will be able to identify areas for improvements as well as share good practice. The results will also help inform future policy and budget priorities for highways and transport.”
Peter Radford, Chair of the NHT Network Survey Steering Group, said:
“There are clear benefits to conducting a public survey in this way. As well as providing excellent value for money, it also enables everyone involved to identify areas of best practice and spot national, regional and local trends.”
The results of the survey are due to be published in early autumn.
