Nigel May has spoken with Nathaniel J Hall – theatre-maker, performer and HIV activist, who works tirelessly to combat HIV stigma – for the latest episode of A Gay Old Time podcast, which shines a spotlight on a person from the LGBTQ+ rainbow to hear their story; one person, one life, one conversation.
Nathaniel’s life took an unexpected turn when he contracted HIV from his first sexual partner, aged 16. He faced a world of stigma and battled with societal shame. His diagnosis and how he dealt with it is a journey that has taken him through crushing lows and experiences of dependency and therapy. But it has also allowed him to create gripping, thought-provoking pieces of theatre like Toxic and First Time and secured him a role in the iconic TV drama It’s A Sin.
A Gay Old Time series is a celebration of a beautiful queer community; people of all ages, people who have had to tread their own path to live their real truth, who have fought with their emotions and emerged victorious, who inspire, who aspire and always entertain.
