Legendary wrestler Ricky Morton cements his place as an LGBTQ+ ally

Graham Robson January 21, 2025

Legendary wrestler Ricky Morton has stood up for the LGBTQ+ community after being criticised for posing in front of a Progress Pride flag.

For most of his career, Morton has performed with Robert Gibson as the Rock ‘n’ Roll Express, winning several major titles back in the day.

Morton, who was one of many wrestling legends who appeared at a freelance wrestling event, shot back at a fan who questioned a photo of him standing in front of the Pride flag, saying “Rick you support that?”.

The WWE Hall of Famer shot back, cementing his place as an LGBTQ+ ally: “Absolutely! People deserve to be happy. Don’t be afraid to be who you are.”

Recently, Morton shared his thoughts on ‘hate culture’ in wrestling, taking to social media to address the fact that there is a lot of negativity being spread by people about professional wrestling. He wanted fans to enjoy professional wrestling as a whole and spread nothing but positivity.

“I often see the comments on socials for wrestling companies and pages and the amount of negative remarks are disgusting. Wrestling fans, let’s bring love and vibes positive! Respect each other’s opinions, celebrate the moments we love, and support the wrestlers who bring it,” Morton said in a post.
