Gscene Editorial Team March 10, 2020

Brighton & Hove Healthy Lifestyles team are delivering new six week free stop smoking groups sessions specifically tailored for the LGBTQ+ community.

If you are interested in stopping smoking or learning about about this group, then get in-touch with them for more information.

All groups are only for LGBTQ+ folk and everyone is welcome to attend. You are four times more likely to quit smoking with the help of  support from the Healthy Lifestyles Team.

Stopping smoking is one of the best things you can do to improve your health.

These groups can help you:

  • understand the benefits of stopping smoking
  • prepare for your quit
  • understand what stops you from making changes
  • cope with difficult situations
  • stay motivated and confident
  • get regular carbon monoxide tests

A health trainer can give you E-vouchers for stop smoking medication for the same cost as a prescription, or free if you don’t have to pay for prescriptions.

They can also give you advice about e-cigarettes and how vaping can help you stop smoking.

For more information about the wider support the team can give you to Quit.

If you’re over 18 years old, live in Brighton and Hove and want to stop smoking send an email to healthylifestyles@brighton-hove.gov.uk, or phone Simon on 01273 296877.
