This initiative came off the back of a suggestion by Labour Councillor Emma Daniel, floated the suggestion on facebook and twitter over the weekend.
Emma said: “I think we as a local authority should be doing everything we can to support the excellent work of FareShare locally in providing essentials for those most in need. That’s why I called for the receptions of council buildings this week to be opened for donations to our city’s foodbanks and I am glad this has now been done.”
