Consortium of LGBTQ+ organisations announce LGBTQ+ Night Shelter pilot in Brighton

Graham Robson December 5, 2022

Brighton & Hove LGBTQ+ Switchboard, the Outside Project and Stonewall Housing have announced the opening an LGBTQ+ night shelter in Brighton!

Opening January 2023, the shelter, which is funded by Brighton Rainbow Fund, will run initially for 10 weeks. The shelter – Brighton’s first LGBTQ+ night shelter – will provide safety and an affirmative space for people who do not have a safe space to stay or who are escaping domestic abuse from partners or family.

The service, run by a team of LGBTQ+ people, will both shelter and feed people overnight, and support people with their next steps, signposting them to appropriate services. Switchboard will provide those leaving the service with support packages including essential items like bedding, toiletries and treats, which make a real difference to how people are feeling. If you think you can help by donating anything to these support packages, email
