Cardion Arts and ICA announce Cardion Nights: Queer Performance, fundraising for LGBTQ+ homelessness charity akt

Graham Robson February 6, 2025

Cardion Arts, a new organisation dedicated to showcasing LGBTQ+ artists in the UK, is partnering with the Institute of Contemporary Arts (ICA) in London to present a special one-night event, Cardion Nights: Queer Performance, which will raise funds for LGBTQ+ homelessness charity akt (formerly Albert Kennedy Trust) on Saturday, March 1.

Curated by Gemma Rolls-Bentley, the lineup features new work by performance artist Ebun Sodipo, drag and movement artist Wet Mess and singer Tom Rasmussen alongside special guests.

The event kicks off Cardion Arts’ 2025 programme showcasing LGBTQ+ artists in the UK. Having previously worked together to present the group exhibition Ultraviolet in Soho, London in 2024, the group of creatives behind Cardion Arts have come together to present an ongoing programme of events, exhibitions and activations amplifying the work of queer artists.

Curator Gemma Rolls Bentley said: “Cardion Arts and the ICA are excited to platform new and existing performance-based work by artists working across poetry, music and visual art. In a moment when community feels more important than ever, these artists come together to present a special night of celebration, togetherness and fundraising for akt”.

The performance night aims to foster a sense of community, creativity, solidarity, and queer joy, whilst raising awareness and funds for Cardion Arts’ charity partner akt – supporting queer and trans homeless youth. Timed to coincide with Zero Discrimination Day, this gathering is a call for inclusivity, compassion, and the transformative power of performance.
