Sussex-based LGBTQ+ youth charity, Allsorts Youth Project, has announced that they will be receiving five years of funding from the National Lottery’s Community Fund. Established in 1999, the charity has been supporting LGBTQ+ young people in Sussex for over 25 years. According to Allsorts, the funding from the Community Fund will help the charity continue to create safer spaces for LGBTQ+ young people.
Allsorts’ CEO said: “LGBTQ+ young people are facing high levels of isolation and uncertainty right now; we are so grateful to the National Lottery Community Fund for helping fund our vital work for the next five years. With this money we will be able to provide LGBT+ young people with access to safer spaces to be themselves without fear, make friends, and build communities.
“We will also be able to continue to develop our Parents & Carers service, to make families feel better equipped to support their LGBTQ+ child.”
Now that they’ve secured funding for five years, Allsorts is looking forward to reaching 30 years old as they continue to work to see a future in which all LGBTQ+ people are free to be themselves.
Allsorts Youth Project listens to, supports and connects children and young people who are LGBTQ+ or exploring their sexual orientation and/or gender identity, and their parents & carers.
