Spring is springing… kind of!

February really is the armpit of the year isn’t it? Grey. Dull. Stormy. Wet. Cold. There have been a few shoots of nice things coming through. The evenings are getting lighter; bulbs are bursting into life; The Masked Singer has finally finished; countries are starting to pick their Eurovision entries. So, what’s on my mind as I step blearily out of winter and into spring? Do I have a huge life changing project to put into practice as the year kicks into gear? Am I assessing the dull, grey aspects of my life and looking to inject them with a little va va voom? Well, kind of…

It’s been a bit of a tough couple of months personally but I could do with getting on with some things. I managed to get the boiler fixed and found myself a lovely new 22 months interest free credit card. I felt like such an adult doing that! So, what is on my to do list? Need to replace the flooring in my hall – it’s been there 17 years and is looking sad. I need to replace a radiator which has been there close to 40 years! I could do with a new job that requires no customer interaction as I’m slowly losing patience with the world. That, and one of our customers was arrested for assaulting me. That might have had something to do with wanting to venture to new pastures. Something officey would be nice. With lots of tea breaks… And cake.

I’m not one of those people who can just get on with things. I’m a ruminator and a procrastinator. I like to let things marinate in my head for a bit before I get on with stuff. It lets the best way of doing things bubble to the surface in my head. I then have to nudge myself repeatedly to actually get on with it! Getting a new job though is a big ol’ thing that can’t be done willy nilly. There’s CVs to update, applications to write and amend, research into companies to do, check out places tea making facilities and so on. Plus, the tricky problem of finding a job I’d like to do!

I just need a bit of time. I need to build myself up to doing this kind of thing. Some people are much more ‘Gun Ho!’ with life stuff like this. I’m a bit more of a ‘Laidback Ho’. Things will get done but at my own pace. It can be frustrating for others to see the speed or lack of, at which I do things but just like the spring, things will come into flower and bloom when the conditions are right and when the timing is just so. We all have our own way of doing things and different people use different time frames. So as spring is springing, I will spring in to action too… just a bit slower.
