Brighton & Hove councillor calls for more people to consider becoming foster carers

Graham Robson October 20, 2020

Cllr Elaine Hills, chair of Brighton & Hove City Councilā€™s (BHCC) Corporate Parenting Board, is calling for more people in the city to become foster carers.

Cllr Hills said:Ā ā€œThe impact our foster carers can have on transforming the lives of our children and young people cannot be overstated.

ā€œOur fostering team offers first class training and 24-7 support. And unlike some independent fostering agencies we are of course a not-for-profit service.

ā€œWe welcome interest in fostering from all sections of our diverse community, regardless of your marital status, race, disability, sexuality or gender.

ā€œWe need people from all backgrounds who have a spare room and child care experience and want to help make a positive difference to the lives of vulnerable children.

“Our team is successfully working to assess and approve new foster carers during the pandemic within government guidelines.”
