Alternative Manchester Pride Festival has announced an online programme for youth and family audiences, kicking off on Saturday, August 29.
Youth Pride MCR was first introduced to the Manchester Pride Festival calendar in 2019 to offer an experience tailored specifically to 14+ LGBTQ+ people and their friends.
This year’s online programme will include a day of Youth Pride MCR content curated by the charity’s team of young ambassadors who have been taking part in workshops since May 2020.
On both Saturday, August 29 and Sunday, August 30 the programmes will kick off with Drag Queen Story Time read by star of Channel Four’s Drag SOS and Family Gorgeous member Anna Phylactic, followed by morning yoga from Lululemon’s David Kam.

On Sunday, August 30 there will be a day full of drag makeup tutorials provided by The Nightbus, vogue dance classes led by the incredible House of Ghetto, a lip sync performance by drag artists Lill’ Queen and Liquorice Black.
Some of the content will be streamed on the Manchester Pride YouTube channel and some will be private content requiring registration via this form (anyone under 16 must get parental consent before signing up).
Also on Sunday, The Village Bakers will host a bake-a-long brunch for all of the family from 11am-12pm. They will demonstrate how to make their own summer fruit pavlova, spring vegetable tart and carrot cake muffins. Ingredient lists are available in advance via the Manchester Pride website for those wanting to take part. Alternative Manchester Pride Festival sponsor, Co-op Food, will be providing vouchers for first (£80), second (£40) and third prize (£20) bake-off winners. Those who are baking along and wish to enter to win must tweet an image of their bakes using the hashtag #ManchesterPride2020.
All three pieces of activity will be streamed live on the Manchester Pride YouTube channel and will be completely FREE and open to anyone who wishes to take part.

By taking our listing groups and workshops online following the Covid-19 lockdown we were able to continue to talk directly to all of our stakeholders and ensure that we programmed activities that they really wanted to see as part of the festival that they can enjoy from the safety of their own homes.
