Mental health support over the festive period

Graham Robson December 21, 2022

People in Sussex are reminded that they can get free, confidential 24/7 help with their mental health over the festive period by texting SUSSEX to 85258.

The volunteer-led digital service offers real-time support to people who need immediate help with their mental health. A trained-volunteer will listen to the issues the texters are facing and help them reach a calmer place. If needed, they will be signposted to local mental health services for continuous and longer-term support.

MindOut, the LGBTQ+ mental health charity, will be running its Online Support Service over Christmas and into the New Year.

Brighton & Hove LGBTQ+ Switchboard has announced its Helpline for the LGBTQ+ community will be open on the following days:

The charity said: “We know Christmas and the festive season can be a difficult time for many people, especially in the LGBTQ community. Whilst our office is closed during the period between Christmas and New Year our helpline is open as usual on Wednesday and Thursday evenings between 7 – 9.30pm.

“Please give us a call, email or chat to us online if you’d like to talk to another LGBTQ+ person. We’re here if you need us.”
