Worcester opens its first LGBTQ+ café

Sugar Daddy’s Café is Worcester’s new LGBTQ+ café located in Trinity Passage. Originally, Sugar Daddy’s began as a home bakery with cakes made by André but in February, he announced that alongside his best friend they planned to open a café and LGBTQ+ space in Worcester. “We’re spending the next few months getting everything ship shape and ready to go and we couldn’t be more excited,” explained an Instagram post.

The space was slowly transformed including widening doors so that the café could be wheelchair accessible, and, of course, painting the Pride Progress Flag onto the walls. While small changes and works were still taking place, the café officially opened in July.

The café, which offers a community board and a small book collection – with donations from several local queer writers – also aims to host various events, and as a queer community hub is bookable for events, meet-ups and more.

The café itself is open from 9am – 6pm, Tuesday – Sunday. They serve and range of food and drink – from sandwiches and cakes, vegan and vegetarian options, breakfast dishes and sweet bites.
