Adam is a fun-loving influencer having the time of his Iife. But he’s struck down with a terminal condition, and faces losing everything – including the love of his life Darryl.
They vow this will not be the end, and instead they seek a completely new beginning and explore new ways to Iive. Adam will become a human cyborg.
Not content with that slightly crazy plot, writer/director Chris Burgess sets this brand new queer musical in the LGBTQ+ nightlife of Brighton.
But if you’re intrigued, as I am, then you’ll have to get the train to big old London because Supersonic Man is being staged at Southwark Playhouse from 9 April – 3 May.
The show is said to combine jazz hands with high drama and is inspired by the amazing science fiction true life story of Peter Scott-Morgan, who was immortalised in a Channel 4 documentary.
It stars Dylan Aiello and James Lowrie, with musical direction by Aaron Clingham and produced by Richard Lambert’s Lambco Productions.
Footnote: Peter Scott-Morgan was an expert in robotics, who developed motor neurone disease. He adapted technology to let him combat the degenerative illness, including augmenting his sight and using avatars.
His other claim to fame is that with partner Francis he was the first person in England to have a same-sex civil partnership, and later the first gay marriage.
