Actor, producer Denholm Spurr is mounting the latest edition of the highly successful and entertaining Disnay Snatched evening in aid of HIV charity Wandsworth Oasis.
Tom Read Wilson (Celebs Go Dating) will head up the judges in a Valentine’s edition on Thursday, February 16 at premier LGBTQ+ venue The Two Brewers in Clapham, London. But what is the event?
Denholm told me: ”We are a parody drag impersonation game show, putting the Queer into Disney, because they forgot to! We raise awareness and funds for LGBTQ+ inclusivity and sexual health through a series of entertaining and diverse drag events”.
Each event has up to six drag contestants pitted against each other as they do their best to impersonate and queer-up some of Disney’s iconic characters. The audience vote and the final two lip sync for that night’s title of Disnay Snatched Champion.
Joining Tom as judge is Cat Phisher, the current Snatched Champion. The contestants this time are: Glitzy von Jagger as Elsa, Ida Mann as Robin Hood, Don One as Prince Charming, Reix as The Muses, Oedipussi Rex as Lumiere, and That Girl as Sadness.
It’s hosted by Heat magazine’s Beary Poppins with Denholm as the inevitable scantily-clad associate. I should say that Denholm is perhaps best-known for his starring role in the Amazon Prime streaming sensation The Grass Is Always Grindr. If you haven’t caught that – you should.
