PREVIEW: ‘Out of the Woods’ with Resound Male Voices

Resound Male Voices, a Brighton & Hove based male singing group, will be performing with the Rebelles at Out of the Woods: Music at Midsummer, a magical evening of vocal music loosely set in a Scandinavian midsummer forest on June 20.

THE choirs, both led by opera singer and vocal coach, Stefan Holmström, will be performing a beautiful Swedish setting of the Shakespeare sonnet Shall I Compare Thee To A Summer’s Day by Nils Lindberg along with bossa nova, folk music from Sweden and Ireland and songs by Irving Berlin, Jobim, Pink Martini, Benjamin Britten and Gershwin among others.

The two groups will be accompanied by a quartet of musicians including Paul and Anne Whiteside, Angie Wilson and Tim Nail.

The evening will be compered by the West End director and choreographer Alex McQuillen-Wright.

Stefan Holmström said: “We are looking to present as many aspects as possible of vocal music and this time Resound is experimenting with choral improvisation in a collaboration with Brighton composer Tim Nail.”

For the interval Andre Pienaar has created an extra special forest berry Pimms.

Resound Male Voices is a male voice ensemble founded in 2011 and based in Brighton & Hove. They perform a diverse repertoire of music from 16th century rounds to West End musical numbers. The chorus work to develop vocally, both individually and as a musical group and actively welcome new members.
