The UK has chosen female country-pop group Remember Monday to represent them at the Eurovision Song Contest, it has been reported.
The group, which appeared on talent show The Voice, is made up of Lauren Byrne, Holly-Anne Hull and Charlotte Steele.
It’s a stark contrast to last year when Olly Alexander represented the UK with pop song Dizzy, which came 18th in the Grand Final. The year before, when the contest was held in Liverpool, Mae Muller came 25th with I Wrote a Song.
A source said: “As ever behind the scenes competition has been fierce to represent the UK.
“The song is a stark change from Olly Alexander last year, but the girls are sure to get the nation behind them.”
The UK receives an automatic ticket to the Grand Final of Eurovision, which takes place in Basel, Switzerland on Saturday, May 17.
