Brighton LGBT Choirs join forces to host Hand In Hand UK/Ireland, LGBT Choir Festival and Concert, from June 12-14, 2015
BRIGHTON Gay Men’s Chorus and the Rainbow Chorus have joined forces to arrange the Hand in Hand UK & Ireland LGBT Choir Festival, which will be taking place in Brighton this summer over the weekend of June 12-14.
The Hand In Hand Festival will bring together LGBT choirs from all over the UK and Ireland to sing, socialise and celebrate, whilst helping raise funds for a number of local charities, including the Sussex Beacon and Lunch Positive.
This festival is being supported by a grant award from the National Lottery Big Lottery Fund, and through sponsorship from The Co-operative Funeralcare as headline sponsor.
For the general public, a particular highlight will be the Hand In Hand LGBT Choir Festival Concert on Saturday June 13 at 7.30pm in Brighton Dome Concert Hall.
Over the rest of the weekend, the Hand In Hand Festival team will be treating delegates to a number of exciting workshops. There will also be plenty of opportunities for the various musical directors, committee and choir members to network, brainstorm and share ideas.
On Sunday morning, most delegates will be taking part in the seaside flashmobs in a range of nearby venues around the city, including the Brighton seafront. And by Sunday lunchtime, they will all be getting together again for a huge leisurely LGBT picnic in the park before bidding their fond farewells.
The Co-Chairs for the Hand In Hand Festival, Paul Charlton (Chairman of Brighton Gay Men’s Chorus), and Finola Brophy (Chair of Rainbow Chorus), said: “The Rainbow Chorus and Brighton Gay Men’s Chorus are delighted to be organising this unique event bringing together the best LGBT choirs from all over the UK & Ireland. Singing classical and traditional music through to classic gay anthems the high standard and diversity of the music and the choirs will astound and impress you.
