Omar Apollo hits back at homophobes after he shares cheeky screenshot from new film, ‘Queer’

Singer and actor Omar Apollo has slammed “homophobes” who unfollowed him after he posted a cheeky screengrab from new film QUEER.

“Unfollow me if ur a homophobe,” he said on Instagram. “You’re not my target audience. I will never make myself palatable, stupid.”

Apollo posted the photo in celebration of his film Queer‘s release to streaming platforms with the caption “Queer available on streaming now for all the dLs that didn’t wanna go to theatre.”

The photo, which is a screenshot from a sex scene between Apollo and Daniel Craig‘s character, features Apollo completely nude with an emoji over his crotch as Lewis’s character lustfully gazes at him.

While Apollo may have faced backlash from some followers, other fans and many of his industry peers commented in celebration.

Queer singer Troye Sivan dropped a comment “What platform?”, and transgender actress Hari Nef added, “Finally I can stream in peace.”

Based on Willam S. Burroughs‘ book of the same name, Queer follows the story of William Lee (Craig), a United States native who migrates to Mexico City and eventually starts a torrid love affair with a recently discharged Navy serviceman named Eugene Allerton (Drew Starkey).

To prepare for the role which would require him to be nude Apollo said he lost 20 pounds  “I had to get on the soup diet,” he told Interview in September 2024. “[Director] Luca [Guadagnino] did not tell me to lose weight, but when you’re about to have a sex scene with Daniel Craig, you’re like, ‘Oh, dude, I can’t be looking off.’”
