Brighton & Hove Pride supports new LGBTQ+ work for Brighton Fringe 2022

Brighton & Hove Pride has awarded five bursaries to performers/producers in the LGBTQ+ community or allies creating work with an LGBTQ+ narrative for Brighton Fringe 2022, which takes place in May.

Pride says:  “Our mission is to support high-quality, innovative, inspirational and engaging work to entertain, inform, educate and thereby enrich the cultural life of the LGBTQ+ community and the residents of Brighton & Hove.”

The five successful artists from all the applicants will each receive £250 towards registration fees and other costs as well as support in kind such as social media support.

The winners are:

Harry Wright: Smalltown Boy

Harry Wright: Smalltown Boy at The Walrus, 10 Ship St, Brighton BN1 1AD from May 15-18.

About: Gay boy with autism explores a lifetime of trying to fit in with other men, with mixed results.

About: A musical stage show that celebrates our cast’s right to live as their authentic selves without apology or judgement. We are who we are!

Ingenious Fools: The Undiagnosables at The Walrus, 10 Ship St, Brighton BN1 1AD on May 15.

About: Showcasing some of the best up and coming disabled, LGBTQ+ and neurodiverse comics on the UK circuit!

Bert Alert:I Can’t Believe It’s Not Gender at The Caxton Arms, 36 North Gardens, Brighton BN1 3LB from May 23-25.

About: A chaotic and ridiculous exploration of the rituals of life and how queer people navigate, reinvent and destroy them!
