PREVIEW:Two great musical offerings and a chance to help create a production

Brian Butler July 1, 2021

Those ever-inventive people at the Brighton Early Music Festival ( BREMF) have come up with two more delicious outdoor events and a chance for you to support the filming of the first ever opera written by a female composer.

At the Royal Spa, Queens Park in Brighton, the super-talented Monteverdi String Band will present The Madrigal Reimagined for two performances this Saturday 3 July at 6pm and 8pm.

And as a great finale of the Midsummer Season, there will be highlights from the BREMF Early Opera Course of Francesca Caccini’s La liberazione di Ruggiero, at 7pm on Sunday 11 July. This opera, the first ever written by a female composer,  is going to be rehearsed over the summer at the University of Sussex and filmed for public screening in October and to watch at home in November.

But in order to do that BREMF need to raise £ 5,000, and you can help now by donating .

The organisers ask you to bring  your own chair or picnic rug to the performances and extra layers of clothing  for after sunset !
