Film festival fundraser at Royal Vauxhall Tavern

Gary Hart June 13, 2015

The Whatever DIY Film Festival (WDIYFF) is holding a benefit evening at the Royal Vauxhall Tavern on Tuesday, June 16.

The Drakes
The Drakes

WDIYFF is a not-for-profit organisation run by volunteers who aim to showcase the best queer and DIY film from the LGBTQ community.

This year organisers want to make the festival as accessible as possible by subsidising tickets and providing BSL interpreters where and when possible.

This can only be done through fundraisers and donations and support from the community.

WDIYFF will be launching a Kickstarter campaign very shortly, but in the meantime you can help them out by going to the Royal Vauxhall Tavern on Tuesday night (June 16) where they’ll be putting on a packed performance show.

♦ Performers at the fundraiser will include:

The Drakes
A group of butches, transmen and masculine-identified people who joined together in the spirit of masculine solidarity in early 2012. Their aims are to promote female masculinity and butch pride and they get together regularly to socialise and strut their stuff on the queer scene. The Drakes run their own parties and strive to create a welcoming and intimate atmosphere, while also being involved in a number of creative projects.

♦ Rachel & Marie
Award Winning Rachel and Marie bring passion, connection and dancing from the heart. They will be performing a movie related dance from their repertoire.

♦ Dj’ing by Joe Pop and Hug The DJ

WDIYFF will also be showcasing a selection of FILMS from the 2014 Wotever DIY Film Festival! There will be a raffle with awesome prizes and a popcorn and cake stall.

The RVT is wheelchair accessible but the toilets are not. If you require seating, space for a wheelchair, other equipment or any other assistance telephone 020 7820 1222 in advance to let the organisers know and they will organise this for you.
