PREVIEW: Brighton Festival: Classical Spectacular

Best of British comes to Brighton!

WEB.600

Popular classics by some of our most celebrated British composers, conducted by Peter Farrant and featuring professional soloists and instrumentalists, can be experienced amidst the stunning surroundings of St Bartholomew’s Church in Brighton during the Brighton Festival Fringe in May.

Works will include Walton’s wonderfully exuberant Crown Imperial, Elgar’s deeply moving Nimrod and Bob Chilcott’s uplifting and inspirational Requiem – regarded by many as equal to Fauré’s Requiem.

Bob Chilcott, described by The Observer as “a contemporary hero of British Choral Music”, has become one of the most widely performed living composers of choral music in the world today. This celebratory concert marks his tremendous achievements by featuring both his Jubilate and Requiem.

Chance observations, from the ordinary to the extraordinary, form her source material and inspiration.

Louise captures these moments in time through photography, before reinventing them in her visually arresting paintings – which represent subjects as diverse as Antigua and the Austrian Alps, to ancient woodland and fairground life – in an unexpected and atmospheric way.

Light and colour are recurring themes in this collection of work, which shapes what promises to be a unmissable exhibition.

Louise has lived in Brighton for 20 years, and has been practising as an oil painter since 2012.
