Hove MP Weatherley Supports ‘Off The Fence’ Winter Appeal

As Winter approaches, Mike Weatherly, the Conservative MP for Hove and Portslade is supporting the local homeless charity Off the Fence.

The charity is run by a dedicated team of 80 volunteers. It provides vital services to those in need by focusing on three key areas: street homelessness, women facing times of crisis and youth and schools.

In the coming months, Off The Fence is organising numerous fundraising activities including a Big Sleepout on November 16, a Nightwalk on February 15 and a Celebration on March 15.

Mike said:

“Off The Fence does a tremendous job working with some of the most vulnerable people in our society.”

He added:

“The charity massively relies on the generosity of the public. People often ask how they can help those who are homeless and supporting an initiative like Off The Fence is a positive way to do this.”

New sponsor for Brighton Half Marathon

Sussex Beacon Half MarathonRunners Need, one of the country’s leading running specialist retailers, has been announced as the Official Sports Retail Partner for the Brighton Half Marathon.

The Brighton Half Marathon, in its 24th year, takes place in Brighton on Sunday, February 16, 2014. This year public places for runners sold out in record time.

Runners Need will lend its support to the race for 2014, assisting with further growth and development. Alongside the initiatives offered in store to support runners they will also provide kit advice, support training runs from their Brighton and London stores and provide prize vouchers for the overall and age category winners of the race.

Runners Need reached its 30 year milestone in 2012 and has grown to 31 stores across the UK and Ireland.

Two men assaulted in Hove

Sussex Police are appealing for witnesses to two assaults on Western Road in Hove on Saturday (November 2).

The first victim, a 43-year-old man from Hove, was walking along Western Road at 12.30am on Saturday with his partner when he was approached by a man and punched in the head. He was taken to Royal Sussex County Hospital with a fractured skull.

The second victim, a 19-year-old man, was also walking along Western Road a short time later and was also punched in the face. He received a broken nose.

Police want to talk to anyone else walking along Western Road near to Farrow and Ball (By Brunswick Square) between half past midnight and 1am.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101 or EMAIL:   

A 24-year-old man from Spain, has been arrested on suspicion of ABH. He has been bailed until December 18 while investigations continue.
