Finland's government is to implement a motion to allow gay marriage and gay adoption.
A survey by a Finnish newspaper found that few politicians in the country's parliament opposed gay adoption and marriage.
The idea for gay marriage was first put forward by the Green League last year.
The party's secretary, Panu Laturi, said:
“
The present law on marriage is discriminatory. Couples of the same gender still do not have the right to marry the person that they love.”
