Archbishop Desmond Tutu has lent his name to pressure from more than sixty civil rights groups calling for Uganda to ditch its anti-homosexuality Bill which could see gay men being executed.
This campaign comes in the week that two gay men in Malawi will stand trial for holding a gay marriage ceremony. Last month Zimbabwean prime minister Morgan Tsvangirai supported Robert Mugabe by saying that gay rights could have no place in the national constitution.
Homosexuality is illegal in 36 African countires.
