Sackville Hotel site redevelopment plans ready for planners to consider

Plans to develop the former Sackville Hotel site on Hove seafront are ready ready to be submitted for planning.
The hotel itself collapsed in 2006 during refurbishment works. The site, at the foot of Sackville Gardens on the Hove seafront, has sat derelict since.
Plans were submitted last year for a six neo-Classical houses but these were turned down by Brighton & Hove City Council following objections about the proposed style of the buildings.
The latest plans will be submitted shortly to the council’s Planning Department and will be assessed soon afterwards by council officers and councillors.
The proposals include five townhouses and four flats in a modern style.
Mike Weatherley, MP for Hove & Portslade, said:
“I am delighted by what I have seen so far. These plans shows that the developers have taken onboard the concerns raised in the council chamber. I will be studying them in detail soon and am keen to hear what my constituents think. I know that Councillors Denise Cobb and Graham Cox, who represent Westbourne Ward, will be reviewing the scheme closely also. Whilst it is important that we get something built, we must work together to ensure that the new buildings are of the highest quality possible.”
