Gscene columnist Neil Woodcock died in Cape Town on Tuesday night while on holiday.
He was returning with friends from a restaurant after celebrating his last night in Cape Town and apparently lost his balance while climbing the stairs to their double-storey, Gordon's Bay house where he was staying with them.
Paramedics tried to resuscitate him for an hour, but he died at the scene.
Neil suffered from Spinal Neuropathy which caused him to walk with the aid of a walking stick and also suffered with a heart condition. It is not clear if he had a heart attack and fell the 3.5 metres to the ground or missed his footing on the steps.
The results of the Post Mortem won't be know for some weeks.
Neil's family have decided that he will be cremated in Cape Town in the next two weeks.
The funeral is being organised by the two friends he was staying with in Cape Town.
