Chris Cooke, chair of the LGBT Community Safety Forum, has called on the remaining trustees of Pride in Brighton and Hove and Pride (South East), to resign with immediate effect.

Chris said:
"I call on the Trustees of Pride in Brighton and Hove and Pride (South East) to do the honourable deed and step down.

"Their tenure of this once proud organisation is an absolute disgrace.

"Under their stewardship there have been catastrophic failings in both financial control and event management, shielded from the public by operating as a charitable venture.

"If there is no Pride in 2012 it will be solely as a result of the actions of the remaining trustees trying to cling onto power.

"Collectively as a Board of Trustees they had the audacity to announce that the 2011 event had "broken even" and that £4,000 would be ploughed back into the LGBT community.

"We now know that nothing could have been further from the truth.

"We must now draw a line under this complete mess.

"Please don't even contemplate clinging on, your integrity lies in tatters.

"The public no longer has faith in you, and clearly your loyalties sit with big business interests rather than the LGBT community that you purport to represent.

"It's time to go, and go quickly.

"Please go now and stop inflicting any more pain on this community!"
