Simon Kirby, MP for Kemptown and Peacehaven is continuing his campaign for Brighton to host the Green Investment Bank.
He has written to Business Secretary Vince Cable to argue the case for Brighton and Hove to host the Government’s Green Investment Bank. The letter is the latest effort in his long running campaign to bring the bank’s headquarters to the city.
Brighton has joined 31 other cities in submitting an application to the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills. The Secretary of State is currently considering applications and is expected to make his decision later this month.
Simon said:
“Whilst I am aware that there is strong competition from other towns and cities across the UK, I cannot think of a more suitable location than Brighton and Hove to host the headquarters of the Green Investment Bank. It is for that reason that I have raised this matter with Ministers from the BIS Department on a number of occasions in recent months to make the case for our city.
"I understand that a decision from Vince Cable is expected later this month, and so I have written to him, reiterating the strong argument in favour of Brighton and Hove. If we are successful then it will be a great boost to the city in terms of jobs and investment, and so I have urged the Secretary of State to seriously consider the merits of our bid”
