The North West's only gay and inclusive rugby team, The Manchester Village Spartans are currently top of their league after three consecutive victories.

The team are currently first in the University of Salford Division 5 East on points difference after wins against Tyldesley 3 (14 – 36), Littleborough 3 (24 – 14) and Aldwinians 5 (76 – 10).

Matthew Whitely, 1st team captain, said:
“This is a great start to a very important season for the Spartans as we gear up to host the Bingham Cup in June 2012."

The 2012 Bingham Cup (commonly referred to as the “Gay Rugby World Cup”) will take place in Manchester,  between June 1-3, 2012.
