Deputy speaker Nigel Evans MP has followed in the footsteps of the London Gay Men's Chorus and recorded a Proud2Be video.

Nigel came out publicly on December 18, 2010 and was quoted as saying "I am fed up of living my life as a lie".

In his video Nigel says:
"I have thrown away possibly 35 years of opportunities of relationships simply by not coming out earlier...my message to you as young people is to come out and be proud".

The video campaign is part of the Proud2Be project, a global organisation founded in June 2011 by gay identical twin brothers Matt and Jon Price. The project was set up to encourage the LGBTQ youth to be proud of who they are.

“As children the overriding message we both received from our school and church, the media and society was that being gay was something to be ashamed of. We desire for the LGBTQ youth of today to be able to access a different message. The Proud2Be Project intends to let them know that there are people in the world like them who are proud to be who they are”

The Proud2Be Project needs your videos! Whether you identify yourself as part of the LGBTQ community or you are a friend or supporter of the LGBTQ community, get involved by making your own Proud2Be Video.

Anyone can do this; individuals, couples, groups and families.
