Brian Dowling, host of 'Celebrity Big Brother' has been chosen to host the National Diversity Awards at the Midland Hotel, Manchester on September 21, 2012.

The prestigious black tie event celebrates the achievements of grass-root communities that tackle the issues in today’s society, giving them recognition for their dedication and hard work that charities and community organisations do on a daily basis.

Brian, who came out as gay to his parents just two weeks before shooting to fame as winner of Big Brother in 2001, says the subject is close to his heart.

Brian Dowling, said:
"I am privileged to be hosting The National Diversity Awards and to be given the chance to witness so many positive role models and charities across the nation being rewarded for their efforts. I feel honoured to be representing an awards ceremony that is recognising diversity at so many levels. It is very exciting to be involved with such an event and to think what prospects the awards will bring to the UK".

Paul Sesay, Chief Executive of The Diversity Group, said:
"It is a delight to have Brian on board. He represents all that is good about positive role models and diversity, we could not think of a better person to host the awards, it is a thrill to have him support and be part of the event".

The Awards are designed to showcase the efforts of those who have demonstrated an outstanding devotion to enhancing equality, diversity and inclusion helping embrace the excellence of everyone, irrespective of age, disability, gender, race and LGBT.

These five strands of diversity are being split into categories for each award.

You can nominate now for Community Organisations, Positive Role Models, Diverse Companies, Entrepreneurs of Excellence and Lifetime Achievers.
