Oxford Pride is to make a £300 donation to their chosen charity, Oxford Friend, which provides free and completely confidential information, support and counselling services for lesbians, gay men and bisexuals.

Their telephone service has been running continuously since 1980, and they added an email service in 2005. In June 2006, Oxford Friend received the Queen's Award for Voluntary Service.

The Oxford Pride Group exists to celebrate lesbian, gay, bi, trans and queer life in Oxfordshire, with events throughout the year including LGBT History Month and the annual Oxford Pride Festival. Preparations are already well under way for the 2010 festival which will open on Friday, June 4 at Oxford Castle, and climax on Saturday, June 12 with a street parade through Oxford and fair day on Oxpens Field.

Mazz Image, Director of Oxford Pride, said:
"The Organising Committee is so grateful to our main sponsor UNISON plus all the volunteers and supporters who helped make the events possible in 2009. We'd love to hear from anyone who would like to be involved in making the 2010 festival even better."
