PinkPaper.com has announced that the nominations are now open for the annual Readers’ Awards 2011.

The PinkPaper.com Awards serve as a comprehensive guide to gay and lesbian life throughout the UK, as well as honouring and celebrating the people, places and events that have most impressively impacted on the gay community over the past year.

A shortlist of finalists will be compiled within each category based on this first round of nominations. Each shortlist will then be put to a second public vote to determine the winner of each category.

Editor-in-Chief Tris Reid-Smith said:
"Our awards are entirely decided by our readers – they choose the nominees and they vote for the final winners. That's why our awards are the most competitive and the most highly valued in LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender) Britain.

"This year’s nationwide categories cover a range of topics including Best Bar and club, Best University, Actor and Actress of the Year, Employer of the Year and Top Brand."

Everyone who submits their nominations this year will be submitted into a prize draw to win a luxury winter weekend get-away for two to Jersey’s Radisson Blu Waterfront Hotel with flights courtesy of bmi baby.

The closing date for the initial round of nominations is Monday December 6, with the shortlists being determined Friday December 10.

The final voting will then run until the winners are announced at the beginning of 2011.
