Student Pride, the UK ’s only national event for LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender) students, will take place in Brighton in March 2010.

Chair of National Student Pride Tom Guy said:
"After a hugely successful weekend of partying, politics and pride in March 2009 in Brighton, the standard was set and, hey, records are meant to be broken. So with a new committee discovered and hired (consisting of up-for-it, talented students) it’s action stations for next year’s event.

"We started Student Pride 5 years ago when I was at Oxford Brookes Uni in response to the Christian Union talk on homosexuality and the bible and the debating side is still as important as ever.  Last year we had some pretty big names on our Question Time panel from Aled (Radio 1), Dan Gillespie Sells (The Feeling) to Chris Bryant MP and the Rev. Debbie Gaston and we plan to make this event bigger next year.

"Couple the debate with live music, a political debate  workshops and loads more fun the daytime event should be great.

"Once the sun set’s at Student Pride it will be time to don the gladrags and hit the town on a pub crawl, this is  Brighton after all!   On the backing of last years fabulous Sunday club night – with Frankmusik headlining, celebrity DJs and Jodie Harsh hosting  - we have managed to book Coalition for Saturday March 6.  And with the theme ‘love music hate homophobia’ running throughout it should be fantastic."
