Jackie Crozier

This October the Manchester Pride team - Jackie Crozier, Sarah Rowland and Dale Vicker - are to climb Mount Kilimanjaro in Africa for charity.
 
Festival director, Jackie, and promotions team worker Dale are raising funds for the Alzheimers Society. Event manager Sarah is climbing for CLIC Sargent - a charity that cares for children suffering from cancer.
 
Jackie Crozier said:
“Dale and I have seen first hand how the disease can affect lives. My grandmother is living with the disease and Dale’s sadly passed away a couple of years ago.
 
“Having seen the impact that dementia has had on my gran, I wanted to do something to help raise money to fight the disease. Witnessing her deterioration from a proud, self-sufficient woman to one who can’t recognise her only granddaughter is deeply upsetting.
 
“My dream is that research can find a way to stop or a cure the condition – one that robs people of precious lifetime memories. Climbing Kilimanjaro for Alzheimer's would give me a way to do something in the name of my gran and the many, many others with the same condition."
 
At 5,895 metres, Mount Kilimanjaro is  Africa's highest peak and one of the biggest volcanoes ever to break through the Earth's crust. The climb takes the team along the Kenya-Tanzania border and passes through farmland and forest on the trek to the summit.
