Commenting on the police inspectorate’s finding that one in three decisions to record a violent incident as no crime having taken place were wrong, from a sample of 479 decisions, Liberal Democrat Shadow Home Secretary, Chris Huhne said:

“If confirmed, this is a profoundly worrying finding. A large number of violent crimes seem to have been dismissed by the police without even being recorded, let alone investigated and prosecuted.”
