Claiming our history, celebrating our present, creating our future - Lesbian Gay Bisexual Trans History Month is at Surrey History Centre, February 1 - 26.
LGBT History Month takes place every year in February and celebrates the lives and achievements of the LGBT community. This is an opportunity to learn more about the histories of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people in Surrey and the UK.
Last year Surrey History Centre and Gay Surrey held the county's first ever LGBT History Month and we are pleased to announce that this year the display incorporates LGBT on Tour, a Surrey Youth Development project focusing on European LGBT heritage, the impact of World War II and the holocaust on the LGBT community.
You can also learn more about Surrey's historic Gay icons including Dame Ethel Smyth and Dirk Bogarde.
The display is open to all in the History Centre foyer from February 1-26 (during normal opening times). Admission is free.
