This Sunday (March 7) is International Women’s Day, intended as a day to celebrate the achievements of women world-wide. According to the Breast Cancer Campaign it's also a perfect day to be "breast aware".

Every year around 12,000 women die from breast cancer in the UK, however research shows that there is a greater chance of survival if breast cancer is detected earlier.

The Campaign advises women to:

• Know what is normal for you
• Look and feel
• Know what changes to look for
• Report any changes without delay
• Attend breast screening if aged 50 or over

A spokesman for the charity said:
"Don’t forget that it’s Mother’s Day on Sunday March 14 – a perfect time to support the charity by holding a fundraising event to either treat your mum or honour her memory. There are lots of events you could hold, from coffee mornings to black tie balls, and they can be great fun to organise."

The charity can also be supported by making a text donation. Text the words ‘FOR MUM’ TO 81400 to make a £1.50 donation to the Campaign.

For more information on holding a fundraising event, large or small, contact Angela on 020 7749 3700 or email: akelly@breastcancercampaign.org
