Over 300 guests attended Stonewall’s 20th birthday party last Friday at The Roof Gardens, Kensington. Attendees included Paul O’Grady, Amanda Barrie, Paul Gambaccini and Stonewall founding members.
Guests enjoyed speeches on the night from Sir Ian McKellen, Stella Duffy and Stonewall Chief Executive Ben Summerskill. The prize raffle – with top prize worth £2,000 – was drawn by TV Dr Christian Jessen.
Laura Doughty, Stonewall Director of Fundraising and Communications said:
"This sell-out night was a fantastic way for guests to show support for Stonewall. It was the perfect opportunity to reflect on how far we’ve come thanks to the bravery and dedication of Stonewall founding members. But we also looked ahead at how much more we want to achieve by invigorating new supporters of Stonewall’s campaigning for equality – at home, at school and at work."
The event raised over £6,000 for Stonewall’s Education for All campaign, which tackles homophobic bullying in Britain ’s schools.
