Sixty young lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer people from more than 40 countries in Europe and beyond gathered in Edinburgh this weekend for the General Assembly of IGLYO (the International Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Queer Youth and Student Organisation).
They discussed the direction and priorities of the organisation and elected a new leadership.
The General Assembly started on Thursday 10 and ended on Saturday 12. The opening of the meeting took place at the Scottish Government, where the Ministry for Equalities and the Equalities and Human Rights Commission welcomed the participants. Later that afternoon, the delegates marked International Human Rights Day 2009 in central Edinburgh with a peaceful demonstration.
